Welcome Back To School, Pepper Drive Tigers!
I hope you have had a safe summer vacation. I know the teachers and staff share my excitement to start the year and welcome your students back to school. Before we return, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Summer Locke and I am proud to be returning to Pepper Drive as principal. Some of you may remember me from when I worked here as Vice Principal.
I am a San Diego native. I grew up in Alpine and graduated from Granite Hills High School before moving to Northern California for college. I got my degrees & teaching credential from UC Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!) before moving back to San Diego. I was a teacher in Lakeside and Mountain Empire School Districts. In 2016, I became a Vice Principal in the Lemon Grove School District. In 2017, I came to Santee as VP here at Pepper Drive. After one year at Pepper, I was given the opportunity to be Principal at Sycamore Canyon School. I was the principal at Sycamore Canyon for 3 years.
Education is my passion. Cultivating a positive school climate for students, staff and families is important to me. I enjoy being in classrooms, working with students, and staying involved in PTA and family events. I am systems-oriented and driven by student achievement. I am beyond excited to be back at Pepper Drive and to work with our incredible school community.
In order to keep all students and staff healthy, we are following the guidelines outlined in the District Safe At School Reopening Plan. Please review the plan before the first day of school.

Students are able to play on playgrounds and mix cohorts while outdoors

Drinking fountains are still closed (please bring refillable water bottle to school)

Middle School students will be rotating between classes and participating in PE & electives

Sanitation and hand washing protocols will be maintained
